It is weird that this game has so much impact on their lives but back on track they all received a mail from Ovan who we know from the previous seasons as the leader of the guild Twilight brigade.
They search for lost items and the key to this alternative world as they believe there is one item that can change everything. I like the part where all people act like the kind of character they have made.
A catlike person acts like a cat and a wolf like person acts like a wolf, a berserker acts as a brute in battle and it is kept simple like that.
So they got a mail from Ovan to come to the forbidden festival and even the people who keep surveillance to make sure everything is safe for their gamers by banning rule breakers and such. Not that they do something as they can be killed too in the world.
Every member of the brigade has collected at the forbidden festival and were going to look for Ovan. Also those who knew Ovan got the mail and got invited to the forbidden festival as he was to be there. Tabby and Sakisaka always got in troubles because Tabby's catlike curiosity even in this OVA they get into problems by opening a chest. An unknown monster got out and none could hurt it besides Haseo. 
It got killed and suddenly a smaller monster came out called a link.It was the link to AIDA it said, and they should be destroyed according to Haseo's knowledge since Ovan's rebirth. They quickly get told that it was only a small part that got destroyed and that they keep existing in the world. It quickly ends in the emotional part like every .hack// season has one. It shows us that there would be a new .hack// season with all of these characters.
The weirdest thing is that this festival is called the forbidden festival, yes everyone is able to get there when it was a message for only a few.
It does not show them that Ovan is back but they all share the same feeling that he is back and the OVA ends with showing us that Ovan is hugging his sister that was once close to losing her life.
I gave this OVA of the .hack// series a 3 out of 5 on Anime-Planet.
*Additional notes* I still love the way they made the music. It is nothing new but noting old either. It is a mix between a virtual world music and the real world. I can't explain it but the music is just catchy and nice to listen too while player Anime-based MMO's.
